How to Use Operating System Updates in VectraOps

Tutorial: Using OS Updates in VectraOps

With OS Updates you can run or schedule Operating System Updates on one or multiple systems.

Supported platforms: This feature applies to both Windows and Linux systems. You can also select a mixed set of systems (Windows and Linux together) and run or schedule OS Updates in one action.

Before you start

  • You have access to the customer tenant.
  • The target system(s) have an active VectraOps agent installed and are online.

Step-by-step

  1. Log in to the customer tenant.
  2. In the left sidebar, open OS Updates.
  3. Select one system or multiple systems from the list (Windows, Linux, or a mixed selection).
  4. Click Run or Schedule Operating System Updates.
  5. Choose one of the available options:
    • Run Now — the agent will execute the update task as soon as possible.
    • Schedule — the agent will execute the update task at the specified date and time.
  6. After creating the task, you can track it in the left sidebar under Tasks.

Where to track progress

  • Go to Tasks in the sidebar to view the task status (e.g., pending, running, completed, failed).
  • Open the task details to see the selected systems and execution time.

Important note: reboot behavior

NOTE: After this task has completed, the system may reboot. This behavior depends on the operating system and whether installed updates require a restart.

Plan maintenance windows accordingly, especially when scheduling updates for production systems.
